Why do I have such a scare on my face, you ask? If you zoom the picture, you can see that I'm about to get eaten by a dragon! Ok, maybe it's just an iguana that we've seen for years here (he lives in the trees on the property). The kids all like it and some are even brave enough to feed it!
My friend's 2 year old was just as concerned as I was and couldn't take his eyes off of it.
Only half of the kids are here this weekend. The other half went with a family member for the weekend.
The orphanage would love the kids to return with their families permanently, but only if the parents can provide a safe environment. The church provides programs for the parents to get sober, understand who Jesus is and how to better be a parent. It's a great organization that has many parts to it to help the people here know who Christ is and to live in his grace.

Today we went to the school, the guards wouldn't let us in because we weren't authorized. The school needs 24 hour security to protect the kids, the electronic equipment and the facility in general. We waited for quite a while (this is the norm for mexico, you are never in a hurry), then one of the pastors came and we were able to get in to cut down some limbs of the Guamúchil Tree. Guamúchil is a fruit that grows and kind of tastes like turnips to me (you can see one in my hand).
We also attempted to finish the installation of the solar on the roof. However we found that squirrels were eating the insulation off of the solar panel wires.

I took a walk to the store and saw two people washing car windshields as the cars stopped at the intersection and a man blowing fire from his mouth. Personally, I'd rather see people perform or provide a service for tips, rather than an abled body person just asking for money.

Of course there was time to play!

I'm a little jealous that Dania got the chicken foot in her soup.
